F-LES VERGES by Pons & Bartumeu
Legend has it that the Virgin of Meritxell was found in the middle of January in a flowered gourd in the middle of the snow by a shepherd who was going to mass in Canillo and that, because of this miracle, the Andorrans wanted to dedicate a chapel to her, today converted into a basilica. She has been the patron saint of Andorra since 1873. And the legend also tells that the Virgin of Canòlich was found by a shepherd from the little village of Bixesarri under a stone on which was a bird of a thousand colors and that, right there where she had been found, the Lauredians erected a sanctuary for venerate her.
Both virgins transcend the purely religious fact and are fully inscribed in the tradition, culture and identity roots of Andorrans and Lauredians. Pons & Bartumeu is inspired by these virgins and their context and presents a collection of jewelry in gold plated silver and diamonds that faithfully reproduce the original images with a desired unconventional and contemporary style.
